Coliemore Harbour, Dalkey
The quaint and tiny "Coliemore Harbour", is located near the village of Dalkey, a suburb of Dublin. As small as this little harbour is, it was, once upon a time, a docking port for largest sailing ships up to the 16th century. The harbour itself looks out onto Dalkey Island with it's old Martello tower (built as a defence against an invasion by Napoleons army) still standing against wind, sea and rain.
I painted this picture during a beautiful spell of sunny summer weather, that we too seldom get. The bright sun on the whitewash walls, the vibrant colours of the boats and the azure blue of the sea reminded me of fishing port you might see in Greece or Portugal.
Inspired in Ireland and Created in Ireland. I have always sketched and painted since I was a child, but it wasn't until my early twenties, when I started to experiment with watercolour, that I saw the medium I really wanted to work in. I immediately loved its transparency and delicate tones. Latest original paintings of beautiful scenes of Ireland and also from my favourite holiday destinations.
